Located just 20 minutes east of Toowoomba and just over one hour from Brisbane, Emu Gully Helidon has been shaping great Australians since 1996.
Helidon is where Emu Gully’s story began — and it continues to shape the most powerful learning we do. Nestled in the Lockyer Valley, our Helidon campus is more than just an outdoor education venue; it’s a place where challenge, history and reflection come together to forge lasting change.
Through a unique blend of physical grit, reflective debriefing, and story-driven experiences, students develop resilience, teamwork, and leadership that shows up long after they leave. Our signature programs—The Challenge and The Adventure—are carefully scaffolded to ensure each group engages at the right level, building confidence and character step by step. Each program focuses on the character values of Courage, Mateship, Sacrifice and Perseverance and is professionally facilitated to enhance outcomes both in the moment and with application to real life.

The Challenge
Fully catered with cabin accommodation for up to 250 people. Designed for groups from Year 4 and beyond, The Challenge is exceptional for building teams, challenging thinking, enhancing communication skills and developing leadership capacity.

Ernie the Emu knows it: the world is full of wonder! He and his mates are ready to venture out to see, hear, smell, and feel everything around them—but maybe skip the tasting!
Ernie’s Journey is all about saying “YES” to curiosity, discovery, and adventure.
The Adventure
Camping and preparing meals are an empowering part of The Adventure experience. Designed for groups from Year 6 and beyond, The Adventure invites participants outside their comfort zone, is tailored to develop resilience, responsibility and independence, and achieves outcomes including harnessing teamwork, building character and applying leadership lessons.
UBUNTU
Ubuntu - “I am because we are'“ - is designed to immerse participants in the essence of collaboration and interdependence.
Across two or three days, participants work together to build their own “village,” fostering a sense of belonging, contribution, and shared achievement.
Ubuntu is perfect for the Duke of Edinburgh awards, or Rites of Passage.
